Defining hydrocarbons in a carbonate objective



Challenge: Identifying the top carbonate, fluid content and porosity variations within a carbonate buildup

Method: Seismic inversion using elastic impedance, simultaneous inversion and a facies based inversion (Ji-Fi)

Results: A facies based inversion produces accurate and realistic results as the rock physics is honored as well as the seismic

Conclusion: Ji-Fi is the best tool for inversion of seismic data for carbonate reservoirs to overcome the limits of the seismic data, to remove the bias of the wells and to provide realistic models
