The Midland Basin’s stratigraphy is widely characterized as multilayer stacked geological zones with unique sedimentary features. These stacked plays combined with high fracture rates are the primary reasons there is great potential for hydrocarbon recovery. In the Midland basin, depending on location, all formations below Grayburg can be a pay until Devonian formation.
In this study, we show a workflow that involves the integration of petrophysics, rock physics, geophysics and geomechanics. All of these workflows will enhance the search of optimal spots and guide decisions about better landing zone, fracking design and improved production.
