Get Access to Ikon’s RokDoc & more

To take advantage of using RokDoc software as part of the AAPG Imperial Barrel Award, please fill in your university and team details on our IBA application. Upon submitting the application, your team’s application will be reviewed and approved for access to download RokDoc.

RokDoc allows you as an interpreter to think in a far more quantitative manner to better ascertain what the expected rock types will be. It helps you to explore your data to predict rocks, fluids, pressure, and stress.

Learning RokDoc before you leave school would be very valuable to your long-term career growth, and we are here to help! RokDoc is easy to learn and easy to use, so why not give it a go. Step-by-Step Instructions

The following is a step-by-step guide for getting RokDoc installed and running.

Step 1: Download and read in full the installation instructions and follow all steps detailed below.

Step 2: Download RokDoc and install with all the defaults.

Step 3: Download a copy of the license file.

3a: Place this file in the C:\Program Files\Ikon Science\RokDoc 2022.1.0.195 directory.

3b: A subsequent license for the month of February will be available from this link on 28th January – please re-visit this page on the 28th or shortly thereafter to obtain the follow-on license.

Step 4: Run RokDoc for the first time….

4a: The ‘RokDoc licensing source’ dialog will appear, as shown below…. toggle the ‘use license file’ radio button, click on the browse button and navigate to the C:\Program Files\Ikon Science\RokDoc 2022.1.0.195 location.

4b: Next the ‘Ikon Science terms of use and copyright notice’ dialog is raised – tick the ‘I accept’ checkbox and click ‘continue’ to proceed with launching RokDoc.

4c: The subsequent dialog to be encountered is the ‘license selector’ dialog – tick the ‘rock physics’ checkbox and click on the ‘OK’ button to launch the RokDoc Project Viewer – success – that is RokDoc running! Note that the green circle/white tick only means that the license is available, but not necessarily selected for use – the checkbox must be ticked to select the module for use!
