Ikon Science Launches The Next Version of RokDoc Incorporating New Rock Physics Models, Visualization Tools and Machine Learning Methods

HOUSTON, TEXAS —December 12, 2022 – Ikon Science, a global provider of knowledge management solutions designed to optimize subsurface discovery, today announced the release of RokDoc Version 2023.1, an industry-leading geoprediction platform.

As global energy demand continues to drive more efficiencies, teams are challenged to find innovative approaches to improve their workflows. To meet this challenge, the latest version of RokDoc expands functionalities in machine learning (ML) and rock physics, and provides new visualization tools to demonstrate success.

Training dataset sizes for machine learning applications determine which algorithms should be used to obtain the most accurate results. New additions to the Deep QI function library are tailor-designed to quantitative interpretation project sized datasets to further speed up the ML workflow with automated parameter optimization, feedback and metrics for confidence and understanding of the prediction. The latest development provides a more realistic, data driven overview of the subsurface and increases performance and flexibility when performing ML based workflows.

In RokDoc 2023.1, Ikon Science has incorporated numerous customer requests to improve existing workflows to include the visualization of well details and metrics in well viewers as well as significant expansion of 3D visualization of datasets. Additionally, well functionalities have been expanded with additional Bayesian Classification methods to aid in geological property categorization and establish tighter integration with 3D reservoir characterization workflows.

“Today we launch version 2023.1 of RokDoc, which focuses on improved reservoir characterization workflows with refined machine learning functionalities, Bayesian classification, and improved visualization tools.” said Alan Mur, Product Manager for QI applications, Ikon Science.

Other notable enhancements include:

  • Workflow efficiency enhancements including “copy working intervals” options and updated RPM default settings.
  • User experience enhancements including save and load option for Normal Compaction Trends, performance improvements in the 1D and 3D collapse pressure calculations, sliding bars for Biot coefficient for several geomechanical functionalities, and improved handling of color bars.
