Reservoir Monitoring

Over the life of a field, it is necessary to stay alert to changes in the predicted flow rates and water saturation values, in case the reservoir is not performing as initially anticipated. 4D seismic is the tool of choice to get a fresh picture of changes to the water contact depth and to identify areas where flow is not occurring in the expected way.

  • 4D modelling makes it possible to compute synthetic 4D data that will show whether a 4D survey will be able to resolve a change in e.g. porefill or oil water contact (OWC).
  • Geomechanical and pressure studies can shed light on the reasons for unexpected changes in reservoir performance, and help identify remedies.
