RokDoc 4D Reservoir Monitoring - 2 Days Course

April 25 - 26, 2023

Course Outline:

2 Day Course: This course aims to impart to the user a thorough understanding of how to use the Reservoir Monitoring functionality within RokDoc. The RokDoc Reservoir Monitoring add-on provides the tools, functionality and workflows needed for the integration of geological, geophysical and reservoir engineering data to perform 3D and 4D analyses. Some level of prior experience and understanding of the RokDoc Rock Physics module is assumed.

Reservoir monitoring is the practice of assessing and monitoring field production performance throughout the life of the field using a variety of different surveillance technologies. The most widely adopted technique is that of time-lapse seismic acquisition. Seismic reservoir monitoring requires a high degree of integration across petrophysical, rock physics, seismic reservoir characterization and engineering disciplines. The RokDoc Reservoir Monitoring add-on provides the perfect space to perform this integration. The software provides a full and sophisticated range of interactive, recipe-based, modelling and analysis tools to enhance and optimize field production through seismic time-lapse studies.

Show Course Outline
Data loading and review:
  • A review of how geocellular (Corner Point Grid – CPG) data can be loaded into RokDoc for use in reservoir monitoring.
Defining a 4D session
  • Focusses on session setup, zonation, depth-to-time conversion, etc.
CPG data and utilities
  • A review of how CPG data can be included within the session, and how it can be manipulated using the various utilities.
Dynamic data
  • How dynamic flow simulation data is handled and manipulated within the Reservoir Monitoring add-on.
5. The 4D property model (Rock Physics Model based):
  • Calculation of dynamic elastic properties directly from static and dynamic CPG data via calibrated rock physics models.
The 4D property model (reference model)
  • Perturbation of a pre-defined reference model for changes in saturation and stress.
Synthetic attributes
  • Generation of various synthetic reflection and impedance attributes from the 4D property model. Time-shift modeling.
Time-lapse seismic data
  • Including multi-vintage seismic data into the 4D session.
Export, up-scaling and averaging
  • A review of how the various interactive recipes can be exported, including a review of how they can be populated into a pre-existing CPG.
