Dr Simon Payne
QI Manager (America)
Simon Payne has been a member of the Quantitative Interpretation team in Ikon Science since 2007. Simon commenced his career with Ikon Science in the London office before transferring to lead the team in Houston in June 2015. During his time with Ikon Science, Simon has undertaken rock physics and seismic inversion studies in a great variety of geological basins and rock types, these include: the North Sea, onshore North Africa, offshore West Africa, onshore Pakistan, offshore (pre-salt) Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico and onshore US. His most recent experience has been in coupling Quantitative Interpretation and Geomechanics workflows to predict fracture stimulation behavior in the Permian Basin. Simon graduated from Leeds University with an MSci in Geophysical Sciences, having spent an year on exchange at the Colorado School of Mines. Simon later returned to university to complete a PhD analyzing multi-component seismic data in fractured Chalk at Oxford University. Part of this time was spent working on data from the Valhall Life of Field Seismic project in Total’s Geoscience Research Centre, Aberdeen.
