Global Portfolio Manager - Reservoirs
Kester Waters is a geoscientist with 15 years’ experience in geology, geophysics and petrophysics.
Since joining Ikon Science in 2004, he has been involved in over 200 interpretation projects spanning many of the world’s oil and gas producing sedimentary basins. During this period, he has been actively involved in both operational and non-operational aspects of exploration and development drilling, determining workflows and techniques for the integration of geological and geophysical data and developing predictive models for drilling risk reduction. From 2010 through 2016 he managed an international team of geoscientists working on a broad spectrum of integrated seismic reservoir characterisation projects and multi-client studies across the Europe, Africa and Middle Eastern regions. He has also been a driving force in the RokDoc software development as product owner of the RokDoc Reservoir Characterisation software.
Kester has written numerous technical articles on seismic inversion and reservoir characterisation and the importance of regional studies for successful exploration and has been a key player in the deliberate integration of pressure into rock physics and seismic analysis workflows. He presents regularly at international conferences and technical forums and in 2017 was awarded Hart’s special meritorious award for engineering innovation for his contributions to the development of Ikon’s flagship Joint Impedance and Facies Inversion (Ji-Fi) software.
In 2016, Kester became Global Portfolio Manager of Ikon Science’s Reservoir software, responsible for its on-going and future development. Kester has a MESci. Geology from Liverpool University UK and an MSc Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Aberdeen UK
