Deborah Morgan is a qualified solicitor with over 25 years’ experience. Having obtained her Law degree from Cambridge University, Deborah joined City Law Firm, Slaughter and May, in 1987 where she remained for over seven years, covering a range of specialisms including corporate finance, capital markets and banking law. In 1994, Deborah joined investment bank Barclays de Zoete Wedd to set up the in-house legal team supporting its banking and strategic finance businesses. Following BZW’s partial sale two years later, she became Global Head of Legal (ex US) for the newly created Barclays Capital, and was later promoted to Managing Director. While at BarCap, Deborah was responsible for a team of 38 lawyers and paralegals located in London, Tokyo, Honk Kong, Singapore and Frankfurt providing support for its global capital markets and international finance businesses. After a career break in 2000, she returned to the City in 2008 to assist City clearing house LCH.Clearnet with a special strategic project, as well as advising them on a group-wide IT project. She joined Ikon Science in January 2011 to start up its in-house legal function, which now consists of three city-trained lawyers.
